Auto Insurance is the Law. Many states may require drivers, as well as their automobiles, to be insured. This way, people who may be involved in accidents with other parties, are less likely to encounter people who are not insured. If an insured person is in an accident with an uninsured driver, the insured person may end up with paying most of the damages, which may cause their insurance to go up in price. So, by requiring all drivers to be insured, the state is protecting other drivers from unsafe and financially dangerous situations. One note to make, is that since most states require drivers to be insured, the Department of Motor Vehicles has a great website for auto insurance
